Launch of Virtual Tourism in Nigeria
Day 1 kicked off with the launch of the virtual tourism booth at Upbeat Centre Lekki. Mr Femi Lawson, the Managing Director of Skyview Communications, said the virtual reality booth was meant to enable Nigerians experience some of the country’s tourists destinations on one sitting. The company presently has four virtual reality gadgets and a mobile virtual reality gadget for corporate organisations, four of which you would see the booth located in Upbeat Centre.

After experiencing familiar destinations I have visited in person and unfamiliar ones, we had a press conference with the Skal International President, Lagos, Mrs Rita Ofure Obidike , the Managing Director of Upbeat Center Mrs. Moyo Ogunseinde , Skyviews Communications Managing Director Mr. Femi Lawson, the Founder of Nigeria Travel Week, Mr. Efetobo Awana, and the Market Director West & Central Africa for Cabo Verde.Airlines Chloe Grant.
It was at this press conference she mentioned Cabo Verde Airlines would be launching in Nigeria (which has now launched). The exciting part of this news is that any one who has been thinking of travelling to places like Brazil but has been scared of getting the US visa, only has to get a Brazilian visa instead of the US visa. This is only possible if you board a Cabo Verde Airline. What you get is a stop over on the beautiful island of Sal and you are taken straight to Brazil. Is that not great news??!!
Oh after this, we engaged in alot of acrobatic activities and team bonding exercises like tug of war, basket ball and more. What a great way to start the week.
Day 2 was so much fun. I say this because I spoke. I truly did not know I would be speaking. I only aspired for it in my mind and boom it happened. This was the travel round-table event where top tourism stakeholders are invited to speak and share their knowledge to people present based on topics presented to them. I look forward to such events to network and learn. Little did I know I would also be transferring knowledge to people.
Yo!
So this is what happened. I asked a question to the previous panel who spoke before mine and my Wolfgang, the Publisher of ATCNews.Org heard my voice and immediately came to tell me that he would like me to join the next panel that he would be facilitating!
How amazing was that? I could say there are three lessons to be learnt like
–
1. Do not be shy to ask questions ( you do not know who is listening)
2. Get yourself a good mentor that has your back
3. Three set big goals, you do not know when you are are going to achieve them.
But the surest thing is to pray for favor. A different lady was supposed to speak on the panel facilitated by Wolfgang, however, he brought me up to speak on the panel when the lady mentioned she would not be able to make it for the panel session. What do you call that? Favor ๐
Did I mention I spoke on the same panel with Kojo Bentum-_Williams, the UNWTO senior expert for communications in Africa and Huulisani Thabela. Yes, that happened!!
On the third day we went on a familiarization trip round Lagos. We Visited the Nike Art Gallery and Loving Lagos where we got to learn the history of Lagos and a little bit of Nigeria’s. The experience was fun and insightful and I recommend this experience at Loving Lagos to every past and present Lagosian. The easiest way to deceive a man is to erase his history.
Day 4 was the Awards day, you would have to CLICK HERE to see how that went. ๐
The final day was a travel hangout at La Campagne Tropicana, one of he best resorts in Lagos. I say this because of the kind of experience served by the staff members and facility itself. To find out more about the resort CLICK HERE and HERE.
If you attended the event, what was the highlight for you? If you did not, why did you miss such a great opportunity to network and explore. Let’s talk about this in the comment section. ๐
Congratulations to the Founder and CEO of Nigeria Travel Week- Mr. Efetobo Awhana for a great vision well executed.
