This is the first “travel blogger” I am featuring on TheFisayo, and I first saw her works through her aesthetically beautiful Instagram page, and I was immediately in awe of the places she had traveled to and the stories she was able to tell of them through her Instagram pictures. Ever since then (October 2017), I decided I’ll feature her on the blog, so that you can get inspired through her travels the same way I have gotten inspired, and here you have it!

She has been to 20 countries, and her most recent travel was to Morocco -she’s going to give us a summary of her “magical trip to Morocco”, so get ready to get indulged;

“I had a chance to travel to Morocco recently and the entire trip was nothing short of a magical experience. I’ve had my eyes set on visiting this beautiful country for a few years now and I’m so happy I finally got to go there.

My trip was 16 days long and during those days, my partner and I drove through 9 different cities. Each one of them was different. Marrakesh was buzzing with activities; Aït Benhaddou, very laid back and even more quite. We spent a night in Todgha Gorges and woke up to hike its gorgeous mountains. Then we drove to the Sahara Desert and spent another night camping with Berber Nomads.

Our trip ended with stops in Midelt (where I saw it snow for the first time), Fes, Chefchaouen, Asilah and finally Casablanca. It’s very difficult to pick out my Top 5 cities but I have tried to narrow them now for this list. So, in no particular order, here they are – My Top 5: Magical Morocco

  1. Chefchaouen:

Chefchaouen is famous for its blue colored houses, medinas and of course, hashish. If you love to take pretty pictures while travelling, this place provides the perfect backdrop for gorgeous photos! We rode the bus from Fes to get to this city. Walking through the medina, hiking to the Spanish Mosque and dinners at nice Moroccan restaurants were some of my favorite things to do in this city.

  2. Sahara Desert:

We spent two nights in the Sahara Desert. Our first night was spent in a hotel after a long drive from Todgha Gorges but our second day was full of activities. First, we went on a little dune bashing adventure (unfortunately, that didn’t last very long as I tend to get motion sickness), then we visited a Berber Nomad’s tent to have tea before returning to our hotel.

The ride was quite uncomfortable to be honest. Getting on a camel is the absolute worst! Coming down is equally as bad. I managed to keep my composure during this ordeal though. But spending a night in the desert was surreal. Watching the sunrise, sunsets, beautiful stars… I fell in love.

Camping in the Sahara Desert is a highlight of any trip to Morocco and it is worth it.

    3. Asilah:

Our hotel here overlooked the beach and heading over to watch sunrises and sunsets was our favorite activity. The days we spent here were very lazy. I enjoyed walking around the city and the beach. I also loved that food was quite cheap.

   4. Marrakesh:

We spent our first 3 days here and visited several places. We stopped at Le Jardin Marjoelle to enjoy the beautiful gardens. We got lost in the Medina, wandered around Jemaa el-Fnaa square and did a bit of window shopping in the souks. I had my first taste of Tajine and mint tea here and those became my go to food and drink for the rest of the trip.

   5. Fes:

I loved visiting the souks here because they were a lot more laid back than the ones in Marrakesh. The riads and restaurants were stunning, the architecture all around the city was a beauty to behold. Most Moroccan cities have beautiful architecture anyway but I came to appreciate more of that in Fes.

So, there you have it, my top 5 cities to visit in Morocco. If you ever find yourself in this north African country, be sure to check them out but don’t limit yourself to these alone. Morocco has so much more to offer.”

I really wish the story did not have to end there, I loved the experience she had at Morrocco, if you feel the same way let me know, I could feature her again for another episode of one of her many travels!
