It was a sunny afternoon on a weekday, I decided to go get some things from the popular “Lekki Arts and Craft Market”, I could have gotten these things anywhere really, but I went there for three major reasons.

  1. Variety of art to choose from present in one place
  2. The cost is bargain-able
  3. I have never been there before.

I was right about two things but the cost. I got there and I was surprised at the cost of goods, you know how to you to ‘balogun market to by cheap cheap things”? I was expecting it to be the same here, but to my surprise it was not, although I was very happy with every thing I got at the market, infact I wanted to get more, but “kudi” (money) did not allow me.

One thing I should mention about the market that disappointed me was the fact that I had to “hustle” to get something that represented “Nigeria”. Most of the items sold at the market were mostly from counties like Ghana and SouthAfrica, biko (please), we have to do more for our county Nigeria. We should promote the arts and culture of our country by making more items that represents us.
