MY EKO HOTEL EXPERIENCE – 5 THINGS THEY DO NOT TELL YOU ABOUT EKO HOTEL

My fingers have been itchy to write down my review on Eko Hotel ever since I got back from my holiday! Most of you already know if you follow my videos on YouTube, that I lost a lot of video content including pictures also, (You can watch the video here to find out more).

My stay at the hotel was lit, you can guess why… There was literally an event every day I was there, and this lasted for the last 7 days of 2017. Although, I wouldn’t say I attended all the events, but I got to meet a lot of celebrities, and I only got to take a picture with one (Timi Dakolo).

For some strange reasons, I was shy to ask for a picture with other celebrities all of a sudden,(I guess it was mostly because of the surrounding circumstance at that time), but you can bet my brothers did not waste time, it is all over their Instagram Time Line.

Let’s get right into the review shall we?

Eko Hotel is a 4.4 star hotel, located in Victoria Island Lagos, adjacent to Eko Atlantic. The hotel consist of 3 suites named; Main building, Eko Signature &Eko Gardens.

Room:

We stayed in a standard room in the main building, and we had the city side view. It is a small room with great lighting and an open glass door leading to the balcony which helps provide natural lights. We were entitled to the regular tea & coffee mix, with glass cups, and a small fridge, along with a small flat screen television.

The room was pretty comfortable, with lovely soft pillows. Although, we had several unpleasant occurrence of the light going off in the hotel, and our air conditioner stopped working on the last day of our stay, I expected more from a big hotel like this. I think they need to work on their maintenance and contingency management.

Room Service:

Sincerely, I, or rather “we” were not too pleased with the service we got, we had to remind the room keepers to replace some of the things in the room each day, which is not supposed to be so. Even when we reminded them, they acted like they were doing the right thing and we were at fault.

After complaining to one of the managers, he said they were running out of stock, due to the fact that the hotel was fully booked, so they had to manage what was left, and he apologized. And this brings me to say that they need have proper planning in place for seasons like Christmas.

Food:

The food was exquisite! We took part in the Nickmas package which ran from the 24th – 26th of December and this package came with free breakfast, launch & dinner. So food was not a problem, the problem was how to finish it. There were a lot of varieties, and they all tasted great. We had a live band playing jazz music during the lunch and dinner which also made sense.

Pool:

I love the pool side, it has a beautiful fountain, and the deepest side is about 6ft.

Gym:

The gym is really big and well equipped, infact I recorded a video there showing you my abs workout routine, you will see it soon.

Security:

There are notable security cameras in most places, coupled with actual security men, so I wouldn’t say the security was loose. Notwithstanding that they might have been overwhelmed during Wizkid & Davido’s concert because of the crowd.

Crowd Management:

Three out of four elevators were working throughout my stay at the hotel, and this contributed to the human traffic during Davido’s & Wizkid’s concert in the hotel.

Parking:

Even with the fact that Eko hotel has enough parking space- both underground and main level parking space, the space still wasn’t enough during the concert days.

Price:

Eko hotel is very very pricey. So if you are okay with their prices you can book a room. Below is their rate rates at the moment;

Play ground:

There is a play ground in the garden right next to the pool, and it is quite big, well arranged & well equipped. Overall, I’ll rate Eko Hotel 3.5 over 5 only because I expect more from them. Apart from positioning themselves as the best in Lagos, they need to meet that standard in all aspect and surpass their competitions by taking steps to achieve perfection if that is their goal. Although it is a great  place for events, and I really wish I still had my video contents I lost so I could give you a visually appealing review of the hotel!

I hope you found this enlightening! What part would you like to experience? As for me, I would like to have the food all over again.
