2017 GOALS

2017 GOALS

Yaay! Finally! I launch my blog! I more than happy about this, it has been on my mind to start a blog for such a long time now, but there is always one constraint or the other. Oh well this is it! Thank God! If you are viewing this, thank you for being part of my first blogging experience, and thank you for taking time out to read this.

And in the spirit of the season, I wish you all a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year in Advance.

This is officially my first post on my blog, since this year is about to end, and a new one is about to begin, I want to share with you a few strategies to help plan a better next year. We are often being told to set goals for the year, some do, some don’t. Even amongst the people who do, not all take it serious, we usually dump our goals after the first month or two. I have done that before. Apart from dumping our goals, our goals most times aren’t comprehensive enough.

I want to share with you all something I learnt from Daystar, we are being told to break down our goals for the next year, and to break them down strategically.

You can break it down into the following, you can also add yours to it;

  • Career or vocational goals
  • Academic or Professional goals
  • Marriage or Relationship goals
  • Family or Social goals
  • Health goals
  • Financial goals
  • Kingdom goals
  • Spiritual goals

While setting these goals, you should keep in mind to set SMART goals,

S – Specific goals

M – Measurable goals

A – Attainable goals

R – Relevant or Realistic goals

T – Time bound goals.

Y’ll might have heard this before, or maybe not, but upon hearing or reading it, you should really try to practice it, give yourself objectives and targets to help you achieve all the goals listed out. This could be done quarterly, or twice a year.

Now what happens is that you explicitly state out your goals for each facet, and set a time frame in which you want to achieve each of these goals. Another thing that helps is having an accountability partner. This person can be your friend, mother, father, partner, just someone that you know will do a good job looking out for you in certain things like this. The accountability partner is supposed to make sure you are not lacking behind your goals, he or she is to check up on you in respect to the goals you have set. This means you’d have to share your goals with the person, therefore meaning that you must also trust the person.
The picture below is a practical demonstration of all I have said. It should be noted that it’s just a prototype to serve as guide.

I do hope you have been able to learn a few things from this, also try and practice it.

Love it! Live it! Share it!

Goals are very important. But that’s just half of it, you need discipline and desire to work towards the goal. It’s not enough to wish, you must act
